KenmoreAll Kenmore dishwasher codes
The tub has too much water in it. The drain pump runs automatically while FE is showing. Either the inlet valve is stuck open, or the control board keeps powering it.
Compatible models
Kenmore dishwashers with model numbers beginning 722.146 (Sears PartsDirect's 722 series table).
Also shown as
Kenmore 722 series only. On Kenmore HE models an overfill trips the float switch code F6E4 instead.
Difficulty
Try the basic checks, but the usual fix is a technician's job.

How to fix Kenmore FE
Unplug and watch the tub
Switch off the breaker or unplug the dishwasher. Look inside: if the water level keeps rising with the power off, close the water valve under the sink right away.
Leave the water off
Keep the supply valve closed until the dishwasher is repaired, and keep towels around the base in case of spills.
When to call a technician
Water filling with the power off means the inlet valve has failed. If filling stops once unplugged, the control board is likely at fault. Both are technician repairs.
