Boiler Error Codes by Brand
Gas boiler fault codes usually point to low system pressure, a failed ignition, a frozen condensate pipe or a sensor. Checking the pressure gauge, the gas supply and the condensate pipe is safe for anyone; everything inside the casing is work for a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Common boiler codes
First checks for any boiler code
- Note the exact code and your model number before anything else.
- Press the reset button the way your operating manual describes, once the cause is fixed. If the code returns after a couple of tries, book a Gas Safe registered engineer.
- Look at the pressure gauge first. Vaillant, for one, asks for at least 1 bar with the heating cold and about 1.5 bar as the usual figure; your manual gives the number for your boiler.
- If you smell gas, open the windows, don't touch switches, turn the gas off at the meter if you can and call the gas emergency line from outside (UK 0800 111 999, Northern Ireland 0800 002 001, Ireland 1800 20 50 50).
Our boiler guides cover 18 codes across 1 brand. Each one explains what the code means, lists the models it applies to, gives safe steps in order, and says clearly when to call a professional.
