Kenmore Dishwasher F9E1 / F9E2 Error Code
Diverter motor fault on Kenmore dishwashers.
KenmoreAll Kenmore dishwasher codes
The diverter sends water to different spray arms during the cycle. F9E1 means the board can't tell where the diverter disc is, usually a wiring fault or a failed diverter motor. F9E2 means the motor won't stop running because a relay on the control board has failed.
Compatible models
Kenmore HE and Elite HE dishwashers plus the Global HE and MicroClean HE lines, as Sears PartsDirect lists them.
Also shown as
The Clean light flashes 9-1 or 9-2 on models without a display. Global HE and MicroClean HE models add F9E3 (diverter disc missing) and F9E4 (lower spray arm error). On these Kenmore families F9E1 has nothing to do with draining.
Difficulty
Try the basic checks, but the usual fix is a technician's job.

How to fix Kenmore F9E1 / F9E2
Free the lower spray arm
Turn the power off, pull the lower rack and spin the lower arm by hand. Move anything that stops it turning, such as a pan handle or a tall utensil hanging below the rack.
Restart the dishwasher
Turn the power back on and run a short cycle to see whether the code clears.
When to call a technician
A repeat code means the diverter motor, its harness or the control board needs replacing, and getting to the diverter means taking apart the sump area. Book a repair.
