About HomeFixCodes

HomeFixCodes explains appliance error codes in plain English and helps you fix what you safely can at home.

An error code on a washer, dishwasher, fridge or air conditioner usually appears at the worst moment, and the owner's manual often gives one line about it. We built HomeFixCodes to fill that gap: one clear page per code, with the likely causes, the checks to try in order, and an honest answer about when to stop and call a professional.

What we cover

We currently explain 384 codes:

We add new brands, appliances and codes regularly.

How we write our guides

  • We check each code against the manufacturer's own support material and established repair references, and list our references on every page.
  • Steps are ordered from easiest to hardest, so you try the two-minute fix before anything involving tools.
  • We only include steps a homeowner can do safely. Anything involving live electrical parts, gas, or sealed systems is marked as a job for a technician.
  • We review pages regularly and show the last review date on each guide.
