Kenmore Washer LE Error Code
Drive motor locked or overloaded on Kenmore washers.
KenmoreAll Kenmore washer codes
The motor couldn't turn the drum, or on top-loaders its thermal overload tripped. Overloading, heavy suds and something jammed in the drive come first; a failed motor, rotor or speed sensor is the less common answer.
Compatible models
Sears PartsDirect lists it for 796-prefix Kenmore front-loaders and top-loaders.
Also shown as

How to fix Kenmore LE
Lighten the load
Take some clothes out and restart. Load loosely in future rather than packing the drum.
Deal with suds
If there's foam in the drum, let the washer sit for about 30 minutes, run Drain/Spin, then rewash with no detergent. Measure HE detergent carefully next time.
Turn the drum by hand
Unplug the washer, empty it and rotate the drum or basket. If it binds or grinds, something may be trapped or the bearing may be damaged.
When to call a technician
A drum that binds, or LE that returns with small loads and no suds, needs a technician to check the bearing, motor, rotor and hall sensor.
