Kenmore Washer F21 Error Code
Front-loader didn't drain in time on Kenmore washers.
KenmoreAll Kenmore washer codes
On a Kenmore HE2 or HE2 Plus the pump ran for about 8 minutes and the tub still held water. A kinked or clogged drain hose, a blocked house drain, debris caught at the pump's large-item filter or a pump that has quit are the usual suspects.
Compatible models
Kenmore HE2 and HE2 Plus front-load washers, per Sears PartsDirect's HE2 code table.
Also shown as
Other Kenmore families report a slow drain with different codes: F/02 on 110-series high-efficiency front-loaders, F9 E1 on 110 VMW top-loaders, Ld or F32 on Oasis top-loaders, OE on 796 front-loaders and E21 on 417 front-loaders.

How to fix Kenmore F21
Look over the drain hose
Pull the washer out a few inches and follow the drain hose from the back panel to the standpipe or tub. Straighten any kinks, and check the hose hasn't been crushed against the wall.
Test the house drain
Pour a bucket of water down the standpipe or laundry sink. If it backs up, the clog is in the home's plumbing, and the washer is fine.
Clear the pump's debris filter
Unplug the washer first. Sears PartsDirect names the large-item filter at the drain pump as a common clog point; your use and care guide shows how to reach it on your model. Have towels and a shallow pan ready, since trapped water will come out.
Run Drain/Spin
Plug the washer back in and run a Drain/Spin cycle with the tub empty. If water leaves quickly, go back to normal loads.
When to call a technician
If the hose and drain are clear and the pump hums without moving water, or stays silent, the drain pump probably needs replacing, and a technician can confirm it.
