GE Washer H2O SUPPLY Error Code
Washer is not getting water. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The washer cannot detect water coming in, most often because the hot or cold supply faucet is turned off. Less often it points to very low household water pressure or a problem with the water level (pressure) sensor. On front-loaders the drain pump runs for about 4 minutes after this message as a precaution against overfilling.
Shown as scrolling 'H2O SUPPLY' text on 2015-and-newer electronic top-loaders and on front-loaders such as the GFW510-PFW950 series. Some 2017-and-newer models show 'IE' or blink the Wash and Rinse lights together instead. After the message appears the controls lock out for about 4 minutes, and unplugging the washer restarts that timer.
How to fix GE H2O SUPPLY
Open both water faucets
Find the hot and cold faucets behind the washer and turn each one fully counterclockwise. They are often left off after installation, a move, or a vacation. Wait out the 4-minute lockout, then start the cycle again.
Check the fill hoses
Pull the washer out carefully and look for kinked, pinched, or crushed hoses. Straighten them so there is a gentle curve with no sharp bends. In winter, make sure lines along an outside wall have not frozen.
Confirm house water pressure
Run a nearby sink faucet to see whether the whole house has weak flow. If pressure is low everywhere, the washer is not the cause and a plumber or your water utility may need to look at it.
Clean the inlet screens
Unplug the washer and shut off both faucets. Unscrew the fill hoses from the back of the washer, keeping a towel and bucket handy, and gently remove lint or grit from the small mesh screens in the ports. Reattach the hoses hand-tight plus a quarter turn and check for leaks.
When to call a technician
If the water supply is clearly on, hoses and screens are clear, and the message keeps returning, the water inlet valve or pressure sensor likely needs testing by a technician.

Frequently asked questions
What does H2O SUPPLY mean on a GE washer?
The washer cannot detect water coming in, most often because the hot or cold supply faucet is turned off. Less often it points to very low household water pressure or a problem with the water level (pressure) sensor. On front-loaders the drain pump runs for about 4 minutes after this message as a precaution against overfilling.
Can I fix GE H2O SUPPLY myself?
Usually, yes. Most H2O SUPPLY problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: open both water faucets.
What if H2O SUPPLY keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when H2O SUPPLY appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
