GE Washer door Error Code

Door not closed or needs opening. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

door
Easy DIY fix

The front-load door was not fully latched when you pressed Start, or three cycles in a row were started without the door being opened. The washer will not run until the door is opened and closed properly.

Front-load (for example GFW510, GFW550, GFW650, GFW850, PFW870, PFW950 series). Door lock failures are logged as E60, E61, E63 or E64.

Safety first: unplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix GE door

  1. Open and close the door firmly

Open the door fully, then shut it with a firm push until it clicks. Start the cycle again.

  2. Check the gasket and latch area

Look for clothing caught in the door seal or debris near the latch. Clear anything that keeps the door from sitting flush.

  3. Wait for normal unlocking

While the door is locked, the door/Locked indicator stays lit. Press Start/Pause and give it a few seconds to release. Never force the door open while it is locked, since that can damage the lock.

When to call a technician

If the message persists with the door firmly closed, have the door lock and latch checked.
