GE Washer CAnCELEd Error Code

Cycle was canceled. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

CAnCELEd
Easy DIY fix

The washer ended the cycle on its own, either because it was paused for more than 24 hours or because it detected an error. The controls then lock out for about 4 minutes.

Safety first: unplug the washer (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix GE CAnCELEd

  1. Wait out the lockout

Leave the washer plugged in and wait about 4 minutes. Pulling the plug only starts the countdown over.

  2. Start a new cycle

After the lockout, choose a cycle and start again. If the washer had been paused overnight, the clothes may need a fresh wash.

  3. Look for a second message

If it cancels again, watch the display for a message such as H2O SUPPLY or a slow-drain warning, and follow the steps for that code.

When to call a technician

If cycles keep canceling with no other message, contact GE Appliances service.

Frequently asked questions

What does CAnCELEd mean on a GE washer?

The washer ended the cycle on its own, either because it was paused for more than 24 hours or because it detected an error. The controls then lock out for about 4 minutes.

Can I fix GE CAnCELEd myself?

Usually, yes. Most CAnCELEd problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: wait out the lockout.

What if CAnCELEd keeps coming back?

A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when CAnCELEd appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
