Before the four-character display, this was P2. Midea's Taiwan list ties it to the compressor top or the IPM getting too hot.

Safety first: unplug the air conditioner (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix Midea PC 02

  1. Clean the outdoor coil with power off

Turn off the outdoor disconnect, then rinse the outside of the coil gently with a garden hose. Skip the pressure washer, since it flattens the fins.

  2. Give it room to breathe

Trim plants and move anything stacked within about 2 ft (60 cm) of the outdoor unit. Make sure the fan exhaust isn't blowing straight into a wall or fence.

  3. Clean the indoor filters

Dirty indoor filters add load to the whole system too. Rinse them and let them dry before reinstalling.

When to call a technician

If the code returns on a clean, unobstructed unit, a technician should check the refrigerant charge, the outdoor fan, and the compressor.
