Safety first: unplug the air conditioner (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix Midea EC 07

  1. Power off first

Switch off the outdoor disconnect or the breaker for the system before you get near the outdoor unit. With power off, check that the fan blade turns freely by hand.

  2. Clear the outdoor unit

Pull leaves, grass clippings, plastic bags, and any snow or ice away from the coil and the fan grille. Leave at least 2 ft (60 cm) of open space around the unit.

  3. Restart and watch the fan

Restore power and start cooling. If the outdoor fan stays still, hums, or grinds, shut it off again.

When to call a technician

If the fan won't turn freely or the code comes back with the area clear, a technician needs to check the outdoor fan motor and board.
