Hotpoint (UK) Washer F08 Error Code
Heater fault. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The machine has found a problem with its heater, and a wash may stop partway and not carry on.
Applies to UK/European Hotpoint machines only, not GE-made Hotpoint washers sold in the US. Indesit's UK service site lists the same code with the same meaning. Older or different model ranges may use other codes, so go by your handbook and Hotpoint's current list.
How to fix Hotpoint (UK) F08
Try one reset
Switch the machine off and unplug it. If there is water near the outlet or cord, switch off the circuit breaker instead of touching the plug. Wait a couple of minutes, plug it back in and try a cool wash. If it pauses again, stop using the machine.
Note the details for the technician
Write down the code, the program you were running and the model and serial numbers from the label inside the door. This helps the technician bring the right parts.
When to call a technician
Book a technician to test and, if needed, replace the heating element.

Only the basic checks. You can safely try the steps above, but F08 usually points to a part or fault that needs a technician.
What if F08 keeps coming back?
