Hotpoint (UK) Washer F09 Error Code
Software fault. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The machine's software has a fault. You may see lots of lights blinking or a confused display, and the program buttons may not work.
Applies to UK/European Hotpoint machines only, not GE-made Hotpoint washers sold in the US. Indesit's UK service site lists the same code with the same meaning.
How to fix Hotpoint (UK) F09
Do a full power reset
Switch the machine off and unplug it. If there is water near the outlet or cord, switch off the circuit breaker instead of touching the plug. Hotpoint advises leaving it unplugged for at least 2 minutes, then plugging it back in, waiting about 30 seconds and starting a program again.
Note the details for the technician
Write down the code, the program you were running and the model and serial numbers from the label inside the door. This helps the technician bring the right parts.
When to call a technician
If a reset does not help, book a technician. The control board may need reprogramming or replacing.
