LG Dishwasher OE Error Code
Not draining. What it means, which models show it, and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
Water was not fully pumped out of the tub. Most often the filter is clogged with food or the drain hose is kinked or blocked; installation problems with the drain hose can also cause it.
Compatible models
LG doesn't publish a model list for this code; it appears on LG dishwashers with a digital display. Check your owner's manual.
Also shown as
Some LG parts references list a similar drain fault as DE. Check your owner's manual for the code your model uses.
Difficulty
Start with the safe checks below; a worn part may need replacing.
How to fix LG OE
Clean the filter
Wait about 30 minutes after a cycle so the water cools, then unplug the dishwasher. Twist out the filter assembly from the tub floor, rinse it under running water with a soft brush, and lock it back in place. LG suggests doing this every one to two weeks.
Check the drain hose
Close the water shut-off valve first, as LG advises before handling the drain hose. Under the sink, look for kinks, crushed spots or clogs in the drain hose. The hose's outlet end (where it connects at the sink or disposer) should sit at least 12 in (30 cm) above the floor; lower than that can let sink water and odors back into the dishwasher.
Clear the sink drain or disposer
If the hose connects to a garbage disposer, run the disposer to clear food. On a newly installed disposer, make sure the knockout plug in its dishwasher inlet was removed.
Force a drain
Plug the unit back in, turn it on and press and hold Start for about three seconds. The pump should run for two to three minutes. If water sits above the filter afterward, stop there.
When to call a technician
If water still pools above the filter after cleaning it and checking the hose, the drain pump likely needs service.

Which LG models show the OE code?
LG doesn't publish a model list for this code; it appears on LG dishwashers with a digital display. Check your owner's manual.
Can I fix LG OE myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear OE, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
What if OE keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when OE appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
