Gree Air Conditioner F5 Error Code
Compressor discharge sensor fault on Gree air conditioners.
GreeAll Gree air conditioner codes
This sensor (50k ohm on GREE units) sits on the hot discharge line from the compressor. If it fails, the board can't protect the compressor from overheating and stops the system.
Compatible models
GREE heat pump systems, both the discharge-sensor and wired-controller versions. GREE doesn't say which models get which.
Also shown as
GREE's FAQ also lists F5 for a wired wall controller temperature sensor fault on systems that use one. If you have a wired controller, ask the technician to check both.
Difficulty
Try the basic checks, but the usual fix is a technician's job.

How to fix Gree F5
Check for a wired controller
If your system has a wired wall controller, note that. F5 can point to its sensor instead of the compressor sensor.
Don't touch the compressor area
The discharge pipe gets very hot and sits close to high-voltage wiring.
When to call a technician
Repeated F5 needs a technician to test the sensor and its connection on the outdoor board.

Frequently asked questions
Which Gree models show the F5 code?

Can I fix Gree F5 myself?
Only the basic checks. You can safely try the steps above, but F5 usually points to a part or fault that needs a technician.
