About Gree air conditioner error codes

Gree Electric Appliances is a Chinese manufacturer and one of the world's largest makers of air conditioners. Its ductless units show faults as letter-and-number codes on the indoor unit display.

How to read Gree air conditioner codes

GREE mini-splits show a two-character code on the indoor unit's display. Read it carefully: GREE uses some letter pairs in both cases with different meanings (E1 and e1, Fo and FO), and a few codes, like H1 and FH, are status messages rather than faults.

GREE's way to clear a code is to switch off the breaker for the system for 10 minutes, then turn it back on. Do that once. If the same code returns, more resets won't help.

When you call a GREE dealer, have the code, the model number from the indoor unit's label, and how soon after power-up the code appeared.

Of the 18 codes on this page, 3 usually have a simple fix you can do yourself, and 8 usually need a technician. Each guide says which is which, so you don't pay for a service call you don't need, and you don't attempt a repair that isn't safe.
