A steady amber light with no blinking means the outdoor unit is powered and waiting for a call. One short blink, a pause and a repeat means it's running on low stage; two blinks means high stage. None of these is a fault.
Compatible models
Shown on the amber STATUS light of Infinity two-stage outdoor units (the 24ANB7 air conditioner and the 25HNB6 and 25HNB9 heat pumps), per Carrier's installation instructions.
Also shown as
Codes 5 and 6 are settings too: they show whether the board's brown-out protection is on or off. The heat pump instructions also list codes 3 and 4, which show the outdoor fan delay setting.

How to fix Carrier Solid / 1 / 2
Compare the light with what the house is doing
If the light shows 1 or 2 and the house isn't cooling or heating, the problem sits elsewhere, often a dirty filter or a thermostat setting. Check the mode and setpoint first.
Give high stage time to kick in
On non-communicating systems, Carrier thermostats hold the unit on low stage for 15 minutes before allowing high stage, unless the room is 5°F (2.8°C) or more off the setpoint. A long run on low stage on a mild day is normal.
When to call a technician
Book a service visit if the light shows normal operation but the system can't keep up with clean filters and correct thermostat settings.
