Maytag Washer F8E1 Error Code
Washer is filling too slowly on Maytag washers.
Not enough water is coming in, or filling is taking far longer than it should. A supply valve that's only partly open, a kinked or blocked inlet hose, clogged inlet screens or a flood-stop device that throttles the flow are the usual reasons.
Compatible models
Maytag front-load washers and top-load HE washers. Top-loaders may show LF or Lo FL instead, and Sears PartsDirect lists F8 E1 for the Bravos and Centennial VMW top-loaders.
Also shown as
Front-loaders show F8 E1 or Lo FL. With this code the door may stay locked; pressing Power can start a pump-out routine of roughly 8 to 10 minutes during which the buttons don't respond, so give it about 10 minutes before trying again.
Difficulty
Most people can clear this one at home with simple checks.

How to fix Maytag F8E1
Open both water valves fully
Turn the hot and cold valves behind the washer all the way on. Maytag washers expect both to be connected, even if you normally wash in cold.
Check the inlet hoses
Run your hand along both fill hoses and straighten any kinks or sharp bends. Hot hose to the hot valve, cold to the cold. If you've fitted anti-flood or flood-stop hoses or valves, Maytag says to connect the washer directly instead, since those devices can choke the flow.
Clean the inlet screens
Close both valves and unplug the washer. Unscrew the hoses from the back with a bucket and towel handy, then gently brush the screens inside the washer's inlet ports with mild soapy water, leaving them in place. Reconnect snugly and turn the water back on.
Clear the code and try again
Clear the code the usual way for your washer type (see the note at the top of the page) and start a new cycle. If it's still there, do the 5-minute unplug reset.
When to call a technician
Valves open, hoses flowing freely, screens clean and F8E1 keeps coming back: the water inlet valve or the water level sensing may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
