Whirlpool Dishwasher Sanitize light flashing Error Code
Load was not sanitized. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The Sani light flashes when the cycle did not reach the temperature needed to sanitize. Treat that load as not sanitized. Incoming water that is too cool or opening the door during the cycle are the usual reasons.
How to fix Whirlpool Sanitize light flashing
Check the hot water
Open the hot tap at the sink nearest the dishwasher, let it run for about 30 seconds, and measure the temperature with a kitchen thermometer. Whirlpool's minimum is 120°F (49°C); if it is cooler, turn the water heater up a little.
Leave the door shut
Let sanitize cycles finish without opening the door, which lets heat escape.
Reset and rerun
Unplug the dishwasher, or switch off its breaker if it is hard-wired, for one minute. Restore power and run the sanitize cycle again.
When to call a technician
If the light still flashes with hot water and an uninterrupted cycle, the heating system may be faulty; schedule service.
