Bosch Washer E17 / F17 Error Code
Water is not coming in fast enough. What it means, which models show it, and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The washer did not fill to the right level within the allowed time. Common causes are a closed or partly closed water tap, a kinked inlet hose, clogged inlet filters (including the filter in an AquaStop hose), or low water pressure in the home.
Compatible models
Bosch doesn't publish a model list for this code; it appears on Bosch washers with a digital display. Check your owner's manual.
Also shown as
Bosch's US code list groups E17, F17 and F29 for this problem, and its Middle East support page uses the same E17/F17 meaning. On some newer models, E:92 with -01 points to the same causes (low pressure or blocked inlet filters). A faucet icon or E:30/-10 can also signal a water supply problem (see the E:30 entry).
Difficulty
Most people can clear this one at home with simple checks.
How to fix Bosch E17 / F17
Open the tap and check the hose
Make sure the water tap behind the washer is turned fully on. If you need to pull the washer out to look at the inlet hose, unplug it first; if the floor around the outlet or cord is wet, switch off the washer's circuit breaker instead of touching the plug. Straighten any kink or flattened section in the hose.
Check your water flow
Bosch's US list says the tap should deliver roughly 2.5 gallons (10 L) per minute. To check, unplug the washer, close the tap, unscrew the inlet hose from it and hold a bucket under the tap, then open it fully for one minute. Much less water than that means low pressure, which a plumber should look at.
Clean the inlet filters
Turn the tap off and unplug the washer. Unscrew the inlet hose at the tap and, if accessible, at the back of the washer, then rinse the small mesh filters and brush out grit. If your hose has an AquaStop box, do not dip that box in water. Reconnect hand-tight, open the tap and check for leaks.
When to call a technician
If the tap is open, flow is normal and the filters are clean but the code keeps coming back, the water inlet valve or a sensor likely needs a technician.
