Bosch Dishwasher E25 Error Code

Drain pump blocked or pump cover loose. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

E25
Easy DIY fix

Something is jamming the drain pump, or the small cover that sits over the pump is loose or missing. Common culprits are broken glass, fruit pits, labels, and bits of plastic that slip past the filter.

Newer US models show E6102 for the same fault. The same E25 meaning applies on UK and EU models. Some Bosch regional pages pair E25 with E6103 instead, so check your manual for the four-digit code on your model.

Safety first: unplug the dishwasher (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix Bosch E25

  1. Switch off power and remove the filter

Switch off the breaker or unplug the dishwasher. Take out the bottom rack and the filter so you can see the pump cover at the bottom of the sump.

  2. Check the pump cover

Make sure the cover is present and snapped firmly in place. If it is loose, push it down until it seats securely.

  3. Clear the pump

Bosch suggests using a spoon to pry the cover loose; you'll hear a click. Lift it until it stops, then draw it toward you to take it out. Mop up any standing water with a sponge and pick out debris, wearing gloves because broken glass often ends up here.

  4. Reassemble and test

Snap the pump cover back in, refit the filter, restore power, and run a short empty cycle. Listen for the pump running normally while it drains.

When to call a technician

If the pump is clear but E25 returns, or the pump hums without draining, the pump itself may be damaged and should be checked by a technician.

Frequently asked questions

What does E25 mean on a Bosch dishwasher?

Something is jamming the drain pump, or the small cover that sits over the pump is loose or missing. Common culprits are broken glass, fruit pits, labels, and bits of plastic that slip past the filter.

Can I fix Bosch E25 myself?

Usually, yes. Most E25 problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: switch off power and remove the filter.

What if E25 keeps coming back?

A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when E25 appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
