Maytag Dryer F2 E1 Error Code
A control panel button is stuck on Maytag dryers.
One of the keys on the panel is reading as pressed all the time. Sticky spills, a key pushed in too hard, or a worn keypad are the common reasons.
Compatible models
Maytag Centennial dryers (F2 E1) and Maytag Bravos dryers (F-02), per Sears PartsDirect.
Also shown as
Sears PartsDirect lists F2 E1 as a stuck button on Centennial dryers. Older Bravos dryers show F-02 for a user interface keypad failure, which Sears says is usually a stuck button.
Difficulty
Start with the safe checks below; a worn part may need replacing.

How to fix Maytag F2 E1
Work each key
Press and let go of every button, one at a time. A stuck one usually feels flat or mushy and doesn't click back up.
Wipe the panel
With the dryer unplugged, clean around the button edges with a cloth that's only slightly damp. Spraying liquid onto the panel can let it seep behind the keys.
Reset and test
Turn the breaker(s) off for a minute, turn them back on and start a Timed Dry cycle. Watch the display for a minute; if F2 E1 stays away, the key has probably freed up.
When to call a technician
When a key can't be freed, Sears PartsDirect says to replace the user interface control. That part sits inside the console, so book a technician.
