LG Dryer gAS Error Code
Gas dryer is not getting gas. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
A gas dryer is not getting the gas it needs to heat, so clothes stay damp. LG lists a closed supply valve and a kinked or bent gas line as the usual reasons. It often shows up on a newly installed dryer.
Gas dryers only. The display may read 9A5, which is just how the word GAS looks on the screen. On gas models a d80 code can also mean no gas is reaching the dryer.
How to fix LG gAS
If you smell gas, leave first
If you notice any gas smell (often like rotten eggs), do not touch switches, plugs or the dryer. Leave the home, then call your gas company or 911 from outside.
Check whether other gas appliances work
If you have a gas stove or water heater, see whether they are working. If nothing gas-powered works, the problem is with your gas service and your gas company should be called.
Look at the valve and line, then call for help
LG's first checks are that the gas shutoff valve behind the dryer is fully open and the flexible gas line is not kinked. You can look without touching: on most valves the handle lines up with the pipe when open. If the valve is closed, the line is kinked or the dryer is new, have the installer or a qualified gas technician correct it rather than adjusting it yourself.
When to call a technician
Any work on the gas valve, gas line or burner belongs to the installer, a qualified gas technician or LG service. If the valve is open and the line looks fine but the code stays, book a repair.

Frequently asked questions
What does gAS mean on a LG dryer?
A gas dryer is not getting the gas it needs to heat, so clothes stay damp. LG lists a closed supply valve and a kinked or bent gas line as the usual reasons. It often shows up on a newly installed dryer.
Can I fix LG gAS myself?
Only the basic checks. You can safely try the steps above, but gAS usually points to a part or fault that needs a technician.
What if gAS keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when gAS appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
