Motor overheated or drum jammed on Electrolux dryers.
ElectroluxAll Electrolux dryer codes
E52 means the drive motor's thermal cutout tripped because it got too hot; E54 means the motor is jammed. Sears PartsDirect's first fix for both is a smaller load. If that's not it, something is dragging on the drum.

How to fix Electrolux E52 / E54
Lighten the load
Take out about a third of the clothes. Bulky items like comforters can wedge the drum on a compact dryer.
Let the motor cool
For E52, switch the dryer off and give the motor time to cool so the thermal cutout can reset. Wait until the cabinet no longer feels warm before you restart.
Turn the drum by hand
Unplug the dryer, empty it and turn the drum slowly by hand. It should move smoothly. Grinding, rubbing or a tight spot means something is caught or a drive part is worn.
When to call a technician
If the empty drum drags or the codes come back with small loads, have a technician inspect the belt, rollers and other drive parts.
