How it works
The outdoor board measures incoming voltage and shuts the system down if it's out of range, protecting the compressor and inverter.
Signs it is failing
- Voltage or phase codes
- Codes after a storm or brownout
- Breaker trips
- Outdoor unit dead
Voltage, phase and overcurrent codes often trace back to the supply. LG and GREE say to reset and, if it persists, have the supply checked.
Can you replace it yourself?
Reset the breaker once. If it trips again, don't keep resetting it. Supply checks and wiring repairs are for a licensed electrician or HVAC tech.
Buying the right part
Not a homeowner purchase. If storms keep setting off codes, ask your electrician about a whole-house or HVAC-rated surge protector.
