Washer User interface board: What It Does and Signs It's Failing
The user interface board is the circuit board behind the buttons, knob and display on the front of the washer. It takes your cycle choices and shows time, status and codes. On most models it passes your choices to the main board over a short wire harness.

How it works
Each button presses a small switch on the board. The board sends your picks to the main control and gets status back to light the display. If that link drops out, you'll usually see a communication code.
Signs it is failing
- Buttons or touch pad don't respond
- One button acts as if it's held down
- Display blank, dim or missing segments
- Washer won't start from the panel
- Communication code between the display and main board
Stuck-key and communication codes often involve this board, though a loose plug between the boards does the same thing. Check that Control Lock or Child Lock is off before you assume anything is broken.
Can you replace it yourself?
Turn off Control Lock, unplug the washer for a few minutes, and wipe any spilled detergent off the buttons, since sticky residue can hold a key down. If that doesn't clear it, the board and its harness need a technician to diagnose.
Buying the right part
A tech will order by the full model number. One model family can use several versions of this board, so the model tag matters.
