Samsung Refrigerator Blinking display Error Code

Temperature display is blinking. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.

Blinking display
Easy DIY fix

The temperature display blinks when the inside of the fridge is warmer than 59°F (15°C). This usually follows a door left open, a big load of warm groceries, or a power outage. It stops by itself once the fridge cools down.

If all the icons flash right after power comes back, that is the normal start-up self-check. A blinking deli drawer panel is handled differently, see the steps.

Safety first: unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its breaker) before touching filters, hoses or panels. If you smell burning or gas, or see water near the outlet, stop and call a professional.

How to fix Samsung Blinking display

  1. Close the doors and wait

Make sure every door and drawer is fully shut, then give the fridge up to 4 hours to cool. The blinking should stop on its own.

  2. Reset a blinking deli drawer

If only the deli drawer panel is blinking, unplug the fridge or switch off its breaker for 2 minutes, restore power and wait 1 minute.

  3. Look for an error code

If a code such as 88 88 or 83E appears with the blinking, follow the steps for that code.

When to call a technician

If the display is still blinking after 4 hours with the doors closed, the fridge is not cooling properly and needs service.
