About Miele dishwasher error codes
Miele is a family-owned German manufacturer known for premium appliances. Miele usually shows faults as F followed by a number, or as a short text message on the display, and it is careful to separate faults you can clear yourself from those that need Miele service.
How to read Miele dishwasher codes
Miele dishwashers with a display show faults as F plus a number, or as a short text message. Models with only indicator lights flash a light such as Drain or Water intake instead. Miele USA and Miele UK list the same fault codes with the same meanings. US pages say faucet where UK pages say stopcock, and both mean the valve that feeds the dishwasher.
To restart after most faults, switch the machine off, wait a few seconds, switch it back on and pick the program again. Several codes are what Miele calls technical faults: there's no owner fix, and the answer is a repair booking with Miele, by phone or online. Have the model and serial number from the data plate on the door edge ready.
Of the 13 codes on this page, 2 usually have a simple fix you can do yourself, and 7 usually need a technician. Each guide says which is which, so you don't pay for a service call you don't need, and you don't attempt a repair that isn't safe.
Before you start
- Write down your model number. It's on a sticker, usually inside the door or lid, on the frame, or on the back or side panel. Parts and some code meanings depend on it.
- Try a reset. Unplug the dishwasher or switch off its breaker for 10 minutes. This clears many one-off glitches without tools.
- Clean the filter at the bottom of the tub. A clogged filter is behind many drain and wash codes.
