Fujitsu Air Conditioner 12 Error Code
Wired remote controller communication error. Here is what it means and how to clear it, easiest fix first.
The indoor unit hasn't received a signal from its wired wall controller for more than about a minute. A loose or damaged controller cable or a failed controller or indoor board can cause it.
Lamp pattern: on models that show faults with the indicator lamps, Fujitsu's tables for many current wall-mounted (RL/RLS/RLX, LZAH), compact ducted (RGLX) and RLF multi-zone units show this code as the Operation lamp flashing 1 time and the Timer lamp flashing 2 times, with the Economy lamp marked "continuous". Other Fujitsu units, such as universal-mount and ceiling-suspended models, use different lamps. A wired controller shows the code as a number. Listed as 12.1 in Fujitsu's FGLair app table. It only applies to systems with a wired controller. On the older code set, wired-remote faults used 00, and on older RML-series multi-zone heads 12 means an indoor fan lock or speed fault. Fujitsu's older code set (for example older 9CQ/9RLQ/12CQ wall units, RMLQ-series multi-zone heads and some RCLX ceiling cassettes) uses different numbers for many faults, so always check the manual for your model.
How to fix Fujitsu 12
Reset the power at the breaker
Switch the system off with the remote, then turn off its circuit breaker in your home's main panel. Wait about 5 minutes, switch the breaker back on and restart the unit. If the code returns within a few minutes, write it down for the technician.
Check the controller for damage
Look at the wall controller and the cable where it leaves the wall for obvious damage, such as a crushed or chewed cable. Don't unscrew the controller from the wall.
When to call a technician
If the code stays, a technician should test the controller cable and the controller itself.

Frequently asked questions
What does 12 mean on a Fujitsu air conditioner?
The indoor unit hasn't received a signal from its wired wall controller for more than about a minute. A loose or damaged controller cable or a failed controller or indoor board can cause it.
Can I fix Fujitsu 12 myself?
Often. The first steps above are safe checks a homeowner can do. If they don't clear 12, the cause is likely a worn part that needs replacing.
What if 12 keeps coming back?
A code that returns after a reset and the checks above usually means a part is wearing out. Note when 12 appears (which cycle, how often) and have your model number ready; it helps a technician bring the right part on the first visit.
