GE Refrigerator Leak Detected Error Code
Possible leak at the water filter on GE refrigerators.
These refrigerators read a chip on the RPWFE filter to keep track of it. A Leak Detected message means the control has flagged a possible leak at the filter, and most of the time reseating or replacing the filter clears it.
Compatible models
GE bottom-freezer refrigerators with an LCD touch screen that take the RPWFE water filter. GE doesn't give model numbers.
Also shown as
Filters without the RFID chip, including many non-genuine ones, won't work in these models.
Difficulty
Most people can clear this one at home with simple checks.

How to fix GE Leak Detected
Check for water
Look in and around the filter housing for drips or puddles. If water has reached an outlet or the power cord, switch off the breaker before you touch anything.
Reseat the filter
Pull the filter and put it back with the printed front label facing you and the end marked Back going into the housing first. A filter sitting crooked can trigger the message.
Make sure the filter is genuine
Genuine RPWFE filters carry an ID chip, and GE's support site shows where to find it under the filter label. A chipless filter won't work in these models, so swap in a genuine one, or a fresh one if it's due.
When to call a technician
If the message stays on with a correctly fitted genuine filter, or water keeps leaking, schedule service.
