Baxi Boiler E119 Error Code

Low primary water pressure (Platinum Combi) on Baxi boilers.

E119
Easy DIY fix

On the Platinum Combi this is the low pressure code: it comes up when the primary circuit falls below 0.5 bar. Bled radiators, a slow leak or a relief valve that has let water out are the usual ways pressure gets lost.

Compatible models

Shown in the Baxi Platinum Combi 24 user manual.

Also shown as

Platinum Combi. The Combi 825 shows low pressure as E118. Baxi also lists E119 among the codes a frozen condensate pipe can bring up, so check the pipe if the gauge looks normal in freezing weather.

Difficulty

Most people can clear this one at home with simple checks.

Safety first: never take the casing off a gas boiler. If you smell gas, open windows, don't use light switches, turn the gas off at the meter if you can and call your gas emergency number from outside. A carbon monoxide alarm going off means the same: switch the boiler off, get fresh air and call.

How to fix Baxi E119

  1. Check the pressure gauge

With the heating off, read the gauge on the boiler. Anything under 0.5 bar will trigger E119; Baxi's general target is 1 to 2 bar.

  2. Repressurize as the Platinum user guide shows

Follow the repressurizing section of your Platinum user guide using the filling loop your installer fitted. Fill slowly, shut the valves at around 1.5 bar, and disconnect the loop if your guide says to. The manual says the boiler should run once pressure is restored.

  3. If pressure is fine, look outside

A normal reading with E119 in a frost points to the condensate pipe. Switch the boiler off, thaw the pipe with warm water or a heat pack, then switch back on.

When to call a technician

Having to top up more than now and then means a leak, an expansion vessel problem or a faulty pressure switch, all of which need a Gas Safe engineer.

Parts linked to E119

These are the parts an engineer usually checks for this code. They sit inside the sealed casing, so leave them to a Gas Safe registered engineer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I fix Baxi E119 myself?

Usually, yes. Most E119 problems clear with simple checks you can do at home. Start with the first step above: check the pressure gauge.
