Bosch Refrigerator E1 Error Code
Refrigerator temperature sensor fault on Bosch refrigerators.
BoschAll Bosch refrigerator codes
The control board is getting readings from a temperature sensor that fall outside the range it expects, so it flags E1. A failed sensor (thermistor) is the most common reason, usually the fresh-food compartment sensor or the fridge defrost sensor. A loose connector, damaged wiring or, as a last suspect, the control board can also trigger it.

AppliancePartsPros doesn't name models for E1 and says its guide may not match every Bosch fridge; the code appears on Bosch refrigerators with a digital display. Check your owner's manual.

Bosch's own US and Canadian error code pages don't list E1; this meaning comes from AppliancePartsPros, which warns that details can vary by model. That site groups E1 and E2 together as fridge or freezer sensor faults, while Bosch's North American pages use E02 for an ice maker fault. Check the manual for your model number.
Difficulty

How to fix Bosch E1
Power-cycle the fridge
Turn off the breaker that feeds the fridge, wait a full minute, then switch it back on. If the code was a one-off glitch, it shouldn't come back.
Check the actual temperature
Set an appliance thermometer on a middle shelf in the fresh-food section and read it after a few hours. The FDA's food-safety limit is 40°F (4°C) or colder; if the fridge is holding that, your food is fine while you wait for service.
When to call a technician
If E1 returns after the power reset, book a technician. Testing the sensors means taking the rear control board cover off and measuring resistance, which is service work.
